Hi, I’m Alexandra!
(she/her)
I’m currently an LPC-Associate (supervised by David Schlosz, PhD, LPC-Supervisor, and amazing human being) based in Austin, Texas. I started my master’s studies at Texas State University to become a counselor in 2021 and have been seeing clients for the past two years, but my work in the healing space began well before that. For over 13 years I have been immersed in various yoga practices and trainings, and I taught yoga classes and led guided meditations for several years after obtaining my 200-hour RYT certification.
While nurturing my spiritual and wellness pursuits on the side, I worked full-time as an accountant in the software industry. After nearly a decade in the corporate world, I felt called to pursue something more meaningful—something that tied my personal values, spiritual growth, and professional identity together into a big, beautiful bow—and I found it! I’m deeply moved by the beauty of helping others connect with themselves in a more authentic, embodied way. Counseling, to me, is a sacred invitation for that kind of transformation.
Most modern-day talk therapies are cognitive-based, and while this can be helpful for short-term behavior modifications and symptom relief, I believe that going beyond the mind is a more effective tool to promote healing and implement lasting change. My approach to counseling is definitely influenced by my background in yoga, but I also draw from Gestalt therapy, which is a holistic, experiential modality that emphasizes heightening your awareness as a tool to gain more autonomy over your life. Awareness = choice! I’m fascinated by Gestalt theory and practice and I’m currently undergoing formal Gestalt therapist training with GATLA.
Outside of the therapy room, I’m a huge music nerd (I am Weezer’s number one fan, no contest), gardening & houseplant aficionada, avid yogi, camping enthusiast, and lover of all things comedy (stand up, animated TV, sketch shows, the stupider the better). I strive to show up 100% authentically inside of the therapy room, too, and share what’s coming up for me as we work together in service of building awareness and connection. During our work together, you can expect to get curious, be challenged, and even try out some “weird shit” (technical term) from time to time.
